Baby's First Thanksgiving

Seriously...where does the time go?  Already Ellie girl is 7 weeks old.  I can't believe she will be 2 months this Saturday!  Everyday we continue to learn something new about her; her different cries, the faces she makes when she poops, when she just wants to chill by herself, when she wants to play, etc.   Though motherhood comes with its challenges, I wouldn't trade it for anything!  Dave tells me nearly everyday how lucky we are to have such a good baby.  ( I still can't believe we have a baby!!!!! )

She continues to breast feed, now about every 3-4 hours during the day and stretching to 5 hours at night.  She's definitely a morning person and is all smiles and coos first thing in the morning.  It's so sweet.  We've also learned that this little girl loves to sleep on her belly and will sleep soundly for hours and hours if she does.  So we let her when we are around to monitor her during the day.  She's also learned how to stick her tongue out.  It's so funny!  I will try to get a picture of that one of these days.

Ellie met her Grandpa Vic for the first time last week when he came out for Thanksgiving.  I think she's gonna get away with everything now that she's got him wrapped around her little finger.  He's so in love with her.  Thanksgiving was spent with our friends Lisa and Dave and their families.  We cooked the turkey and a pie and brought it over to their house, but I gotta tell you, it was nice not having to cook everything else!

Well, now we are on to Christmas.  During one of Ellie's naps yesterday we were able to get the tree up, decorated, and put up all the other Christmas decorations in the house.  In a few weeks Ellie will take her first flight to go see her Great Grandparents and family in Kansas City.  I'm hoping everything goes smoothly.  She loves loud background noise so I'm hoping the hum of the airplane will keep her asleep (or calm) during the flight.  I think I might steal an idea from our friends that recently flew with 2 under 2 and buy Southwest drink coupons in advance for our seat neighbors just in case ;)

Well, today Ellie is 5 weeks old.  At her 1 month appt she weighed in at 9 lbs 5 oz.  I really can't believe how fast time is flying by.  I feel so blessed to be able to spend 3 months at home with this little girl.  I don't know how I'd manage if I had to go back to work after 6 weeks.  It just doesn't seem like enough time. 

We've had a lot of fun over the past few weeks.  My mom came to visit for Ellie's first Halloween.  It was so wonderful having her here. 

Thanks to her, my freezer is stocked with a lot of delicious foods like egg rolls and pork bulgogi (think Korean BBQ).  She makes some amazing Korean food that we can't get here on Cape Cod so we were stoked.  I even think I gained weight while she was here!  She was such a huge help with Ellie too.  I think Grandma's have the magic touch because Ellie seemed to fall asleep within seconds of my mom holding her.  And she kept her entertained and watched her throughout the day so I was able to get extra sleep and chores done around the house.  What a blessing!

Also, while my mom was here my half-brother Eric came up from Virginia for a visit too.  We got some pictures of Uncle Eric holding his niece.  Eric is a Red Sox fan so we went to Fenway one day for a park tour and walked around  Quincy Market in downtown Boston.  Ellie does great in the car so it was nice to be able to spend time with him while venturing out and about.

Next up is Thanksgiving and my dad will fly out to spend that with us.  We are excited for him to meet his granddaughter.  Can't wait to see him!

I just want to say CONGRATS to all of our friends who have recently welcomed their babies into the world.  There have been so many lately...I LOVE it!  Hope everyone is enjoying their fall, stay warm!

So in LOVE....

What an absolute joy being a momma has been so far.  Dave and I were talking about how fast you get to learn your newborn once you are home with her.  It's been so much fun!  Not only am I in love with our Ellie but with the daddy Dave has become.  It's so amazing watching him with her.  He took on the role without any qualms and has been an incredible help around the house and with her while he's been on paternity leave the last 17 days.

Today is his first day back to work so now it's just the little nugget and I for the next 3 months.  I'm so grateful that she is a good eater and sleeper throughout the day.  She's starting to get a little feisty if she goes too long without eating....but so do I!  And she's so alert.  She just stares around her surroundings with those big dark eyes.  I just stare at her doing this and forget that I can put her down in her travel bassinet or in the swing.  The car seat = LOVE!  Once she's in that thing she's out.  We've already ventured out quite a bit doing some shopping and going out to eat.  Luckily, she's never fussed while in the car seat while we've been out in public. 

I know you other moms are thinking, "oh, just you wait...".  And I'm sure that I will get my share of all-out tantrums and screaming fits as she gets older.  But for now, I'll take my angel baby and relish in it.  =)

We also had our newborn photo session.  There was lots of pee and poop on me, the photographer, and the props but it was so fun to watch all the fun pictures being captured during our 2.5 hour session at home.  I can't say more great things about our photographer.  For all you MASS folks, if you are looking for a photographer for family, baby, birthday, etc occasions please consider Ashleigh-Faye Photography.  She is amazing and so, so easy to work with.  I will post those pictures once they are all edited.
