Slumbering Party

For the first time since Ellie's graced us with her presence, Dave and I had a night away together.  Celebrating 9 years of wedded bliss...NYC style.  Plenty of delicious edibles, drinks, and even more strolling through the street fairs and THE park.  We obviously missed the little nugget and were thankful for updates and photos from her stay with Bubby Bonnie, Uncle Mel, Emily, and of course Hannah and Elizabeth Taylor (the pups) ;)

Why yes, I'd love some champagne!  Let me tell you, I devoured those chocolates too.

Summer Lovelies

It's been a while since I've posted anything, so I guess I have a bit to catch up on.

1.  Summer is here!  Woo hoo!  I know everyone is excited for the warm weather, BBQs (or cookouts as they say out here), swimming, beach days, and late nights of sitting out back.  We had a mild entrance into summer but over the last couple of weeks the heat and humidity have definitely picked up.  It's a good thing Ellie is a good sport about putting on sunscreen.

2.  Ellie is growing like a weed and is weighing in at 26.5 lbs.  We switched her to a bigger diaper and she is now in 24 months or 2T clothes.  Tomorrow she will be 21 months, only 3 more months until her 2nd birthday!!  She is currently obsessed with watching Elmo videos (so that may be her theme this year) but doesn't care to watch t.v., which is fine with me.  She's still a great eater but shies away from meats and anything too saucy at home.  Her favorites are lima beans, cucumber, grapefruit, watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, and eggs.  She has 8 teeth with 4 more coming in VERY SLOWLY at the same time, which is her usual routine with teeth unfortunately.  Ellie is really putting her words together now and talking very well.  I love her little voice so much that I wish I could bottle it up and keep it forever.  I am letting her lead with potty training not wanting to push her too much just yet.  We occasionally pee in the "Big Girl Potty" but she doesn't go near it to poop.  She is still sleeping great in her crib so I'm hesistant to take her out of it just yet.  Any suggestions from those mommas who have done this???

3.  School and work are keeping this momma busy.  I'm almost done with the first year of my graduate program and have been working a lot this summer too.  Dave has many trips for work already scheduled so I'll be doing my best to stay sane with home life, work life, and school life.  ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE IN THE SHORT TERM!  I keep telling myself that.

4.  We've had some great visits already from Dave's Aunt and Uncle, my girlfriends from back home, and a cousin coming to visit, followed by some Cape friends in a few weeks.  It helps break up the everyday routine when there's something to look forward to, that's for sure.
