Memorial Weekend

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!  The start to a busy Cape Cod summer has officially begun.  This is clearly indicated by the massive amounts of traffic from all the seasonal visitors, which is obnoxious for the first couple weeks but then you just learn to adapt and change your driving patterns/times.  =)

We've had a busy weekend ourselves.  We started off registering for the many things Ellie will need once she's here!  It was way faster and easier than I thought it would be.  Of course, I'm thinking we went overboard, but that's okay.  It was so fun seeing all the other moms there with their bellies and getting advice on different products.  Dave was a trooper, as he always is, and really put in his two cents about what we needed to register for.
We definitely took advantage of this prime parking spot!

Next up was the Feet, Fins, and Flippers 5K race along the Canal.  It was quite cloudy and foggy out but it was nice to get out and participate in it anyway.  Dave ran the race with his "brother" Dave and Lisa.  My girlfriend Dena was nice enough to walk it with me with our pups.  Stella and Niko did so great!!!

After the 5K we met up with our friends the Pieroways at Marina Bay for some boating!  It turned out to be an incredible day on the water.  It felt so good to get the water breeze and sun on my skin.  We ended up anchoring out with another boat and just hanging out, grilling, laughing (there's always a lot of that) and just enjoying the start of summer.

I'll wrap this up because I have some organizing and packing to do before our trip this week.  Hope everyone had a great weekend as well!

19 Weeks and IT'S A GIRL!

So every week I check on the progress of little Ellie Reese by reading updates on various sites such as What to Expect and Baby Center. I wanted to share this post with all of you because it absolutely cracked me up!!!

FOR YOU
Belly laugh: Count your blessings
The penis of a rhinoceros is 2 feet long.
The penis of a mosquito is a hundredth of an inch long.
The praying mantis bites her mate's head off while he impregnates her.
Elephants are pregnant for two years.
Many animals give birth to a dozen or more babies at a time.
Your baby won't be born with hooves.

So, basically, we've got it pretty good!
18 weeks

Two weeks ago we went to an ultrasound and our little girl was quiet and comfortable as can be. We didn't get many good pictures due to her positioning. We went back last week and were able to get some good profile pictures but she was still pretty calm. Fellow nurses and Mommas say that might mean she's a calm baby.....I'd love that! No doubt her dad could probably get her riled up, but for me calm would be great!

Daddy Dave is getting into the girl spirit. He did some shopping for her last weekend and it was his idea to pick out her "coming home" outfit. So cute!
Even Niko is getting quite curious about all the stuff that is showing up!

First Teddy from Hillary and Rich Pieroway and a plaque we painted at Color Me Mine to put in Ellie's nursery.

She is measuring at about 9 oz and 7 inches. Her sensory abilities are becoming intact so there's been a lot of talking to her :). I really, really, can't wait to see her! Every little change going on in there is so exciting and truly a miracle.

19 weeks!

Baby Bump Alert!!!

For all you inquiring minds, I am 15 weeks along now!  The best part is that my energy level is slowly starting to pick back up.  My appetite has been ridiculous during the day ( you surgery center girls- and guys- know what i mean ) and then close to nothing during the evening.  There's a definite growth spurt going on, evident by the little baby bump finally!!!!

To get us really excited, we decided to do a little baby shopping last weekend, which was so much fun!!!  I had done some research previous to our first jaunt into the store so we easily agreed on a crib, infant carrier, and adaptable stroller. I can't wait to learn the gender next month.  I'll definitely keep everyone up to date!

Asides from that, we've kept busy with open houses and keeping the house in tip-top shape for showings.  So it's been kind of hard deciding on whether or not we want to keep the 3rd bedroom as a guest room or turn it into the nursery.  Decisions, decisions......

Anyway, hope everyone has a happy and healthy Easter this weekend!  Dave has to stay near home for work so we won't be able to join my cousin and her family in CT but I'm sure we'll have a delicious brunch somewhere.  We better because this hungry momma is gonna need it!!!  =)

busy, busy....

Is it Friday yet?  That's all I keep thinking of.  This last week has been so hectic.

1-  We put our house on the market.  This means constant cleaning, MLS tours, realtors coming through, and bringing Niko with me during the day so he doesn't yap peoples' heads off while he is in his crate during the day.

2- We had our dear friends the Rudmans come down from Maine and stay with us Friday-Sunday.  They were in town to attend a mutual Coastie friend's wedding.  Let me tell you, Jess and Barry Murphy put on one good wedding.  I've never had so much food at a wedding in my life!  It just kept coming, and coming, and coming....Hope you are having a fabulous time in the Bahamas!!

3- Sunday we drove up north for our friends Hillary and Rich's son's christening.  Owen Bradley was the best little boy that day and looked so cute in his outfit.

4-  Now, I'm at home putting off my review for ACLS and am surfing the web.  I think it's time to plan a vacation!!!!

Hope everyone has a great week and even better weekend!!!!

Big News!!!!

Well, some of you know that Dave and I have been trying to have a little baby for a while.  It has been our biggest wish to be parents but constantly found ourselves being disappointed.  Finally, that disappointment has turned into so much joy and excitement...WE ARE HAVING A BABY!!!!!   Project Bambino was a success!   We feel so blessed to be surrounded by so many supportive friends and family members.  Your prayers, thoughts, and encouragement were so greatly appreciated over the last few years.  I can't wait until I can meet Baby Edelson.  His or her big debut is expected to be October 13th.  Here are some pictures....more to come!
Baby Edelson, only 8 cells big (we called "him" Ocho)

Happy President's Day Weekend!

I hope most of you are enjoying a three-day weekend like we are. Dave and I decided to get off this island and head to Boston for the weekend. There's so much we haven't seen or done up there so we decided to be tourists. Those plans got cut short because of the frigid winds that blew through the city!! I mean brutal! We did manage to go to Cambridge to our favorite Korean BBQ restaurant, Koreana, where we proceeded to eat way too much.

The next morning we got up and went to the New England Aquarium. I could have stayed all day and watched those little penguins chase each other around in the pools and up onto rocks. They were so cute. Our other favorite exhibit was the SeaDragon tank. I don't think I've ever seen them before. If you don't know what I'm talking about you gotta look them up.

We then were able to meet up with an old friend from Seattle, Toby. He was stationed with Dave in Seattle and is now in Boston. We walked through the North End (Little Italy) and had some lunch at one of the many amazing Italian restaurants, Dino's. It was so great, but always too short of a visit with Toby.

Now we are home, lazily starting our Monday. It actually started snowing again early this morning. So we are just gonna snuggle down and stay warm today. We hope you all had a great weekend! Happy President's Day!

A little bit about us

Well, since this is the first post I better start from the beginning. Most everyone knows this story so I will abbreviate it for the rest. Dave and I met almost 10 years ago while I was in nursing school. We dated for a few months and then he joined the Coast Guard.  First station....Ketchikan, Alaska????
I just assumed he'd get Seattle but Alaska it was.  Dave was stationed to a 110 ft cutter, The Naushon, and I was in nursing school so the time seemed to fly by.  We continued this long distance relationship over 2 1/2 years of missed birthdays, graduations, and holidays.  On July 11, 2003 we got engaged!  We were then married the following summer when he was transferred back to Seattle, finally.

While living in Seattle, I worked for Virginia Mason Medical Center in the Urology dept.   It was the best group of physicians and staff and I still miss them.  Dave worked at the MSST, a unit created after 9-11 to help with Homeland Security.  Then we made the drive down to San Diego where Dave was transferred to for just a year.  I was able to find another Urology job at UCSD Medical Center and had a floor full of "moms" who fed me almost daily!

Then in 2008, we made the cross-country trip to Cape Cod, MA.  We've been here for 2 1/2 years and it's been great so far.  I'm the Nurse Manager at an Ambulatory Surgery Center and have made some great friends here.  Dave is currently at an Aids to Navigation Team (ANT) in Woods Hole.

Hope this finds everyone happy and healthy.  Keep checking back for more updates!!!
